In our full-length production season this year, we are celebrating 20 years as a company by reveling in the joyous highs and dismal lows of being human, often at the same time.

Aug 26th – 29th, Sept 1st – 5th, Sept 8th – 12th | Student Tix: $25

QSE’s Artistic Director, Rob Pensalfini, is back in the directors’ chair for our spring-season show, an exciting first-time QSE production of Romeo & Juliet.

In a city torn apart by families weaponising intergenerational discord, two young people push back against the expectations surrounding them. Juliet refuses to allow her life and sexuality to be traded for security, while Romeo distances himself from the boys club mentality in which he was raised. In their greatest act of defiance, the two teenagers find unexpected love. But, is youthful love enough to mend ancient rifts?

Marking the ensemble’s return to the beautiful Roma Street Parkland, Romeo & Juliet promises to deliver the clarity, joy, and live music that QSE has become known for over the last 20 years.

The second production in our 20th Birthday Season is the brilliant yet rarely performed The Rover by Aphra Behn directed by Rebecca Murphy.

Written in 1677 by the ‘first professional woman playwright,’ The Rover remains strikingly relevant, offering an honest, funny, and at times seering exploration of gender, love, and freedom.
