James Enwright
James is an emerging actor and musician who divides his time between Meanjin/Brisbane and the Gold Coast, where he grew up. In high school he found a passion for the potential for expression offered by acting, and undertook a Bachelor of Arts at UQ where he developed his interest in film theory, drama and literature. Through this course, he assistant directed and performed in his first public Shakespeare production, a hybrid of The Taming of the Shrew and John Fletcher’s The Tamer Tamed.
He recently took NIDA Open’s Screen Actors Studio course which ran for the whole year of 2024. He has found a passion for performing in community theatre in recent years, particularly with UQ’s resident theatre company Underground Productions. He has appeared in Underground’s How to Vote (2024) and The Birth of Rugby League (Playground Festival, 2023), as well as Ad Astra’s Loot (2024) and Centenary Theatre’s Across the Barricades (2023).
James has always held an interest in classical text and is very excited to undergo the unique physical and mental training that QSE offers. He first worked with QSE in 2023 as a production assistant on The Penelopiad and is excited to continue to work with them.
