REBECCA MURPHY

2023 marks Rebecca’s fifteenth year as a Core Ensemble member of QSE, her sixth as the ensemble’s General Manager. Performance credits for QSE include Lady Macbeth (Macbeth and Macbeth in the Dark), Poins (Henry IV Part I), Gravedigger (Hamlet), Paulina (The Winter’s Tale), Mary (Mary Stuart), Tamora (Titus), Olivia (Twelfth Night), Ariel (The Tempest), Maria (Twelfth Night), Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), and Julia (The Two Gentlemen of Verona).  

Other credits include Tales of Rain with Niz Jabour and La Boite Theatre Company, Who’s Afraid of Virginia WoolfLovePukeThe White Whore and the Bit PlayerRomeo and Juliet for Tropic Sun Theatre (NQ), and Mullah Nasrudin (stage manager) for Full Throttle Theatre Company/La Boite Indie. Rebecca has been involved in creative developments and readings of a number of new works including The Tragedy of Socrates (written by Silvan Rus), The Blood Votes (written by Michael Futcher) and The Centre (written by Jo Loth and Ginna Brock).

In 2017 Rebecca directed the world premiere of Rob Pensalfini’s Bogga. Other directorial credits include The Rover, Henry IV Part IRosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, and Shakespeare’s Shorts. She was also assistant director on The Winter’s TaleTwelfth Night, and Titus and recently completed a directorial observation on Queensland Theatre’s The Holidays.

An in-demand facilitator and tutor Rebecca has had the pleasure of working with companies and institutions including Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble, University of Queensland, NIDA Open, Brisbane Drama Studio, Shakespeare Prison Project, Tropical Arts, Underground Productions and ABCN (Australian Business and Community Network).
